White House Staff question; have White House chefs always served primarily French cuisine, as eaten by other?
Vic asked:
World leaders; I ask because someone told me George Bush tried to ban French food from the US, and have French fries renamed as Freedom Fries?

I said this couldn’t be true as wealthy Americans have always eaten French food, as have their worldwide counterparts, for centuries

well I don’t know if you noticed but George Bush Jr isn’t known for his intelligence or wit, only his inane, apologetic grin

White House chefs serve whatever type of food the President and his family request. For instance, Nancy Reagan requested a low-fat, low calorie diet. Most French food wouldn’t qualify. I also seriously doubt that President Bush would particularly enjoy French food, since he comes from a beef and barbecue state. The Freedom Fries didn’t last. The name was changed back even on the menu of the restaurant that serves Congress.

George Bush did not ban French food or rename french fries. The Congress renamed french fries “freedom fries” in the Congressional cafeterias after the French refused to support our efforts in the War on Terror.
It’s funny how everyone touts George Bush as unintelligent… he has degrees from some of our most prestigious institutions and held a higher GPA than Kerry
