Is French cuisine bland?

french cuisine
paris6 asked:

I noticed on a few other questions that people were saying French food is bland, but I always thought they used a lot of herbs. In the south, I heard the food is even spicy-hot sometimes. So is French cuisine really bland?

  1. Only if they purposely make it bland. French cuisine is usually very flavorful, and consists of very good quality ingredients.

  2. I don’t think French cuisine is bland at all. In fact, French cuisine uses a lot of herbs, garlic, shallots, wine, cheeses, cream, butter….in their cooking. Take their bouillabaisse for instance, it is full of spice and is burst with flavors. Lobster bisque is another example. it is rich and rich in flavor. Escargot is another example of a dish full of flavor, it has minced garlic, shallots, fresh chives, wine, & cheese.

  3. Totally over-rated…French cuisine is absolutely bland. I have worked with a few French Chefs.

  4. That’s a lie. Obviously, they are going to bad french restaurant. Our first fine dining french restaurant was so gooooood!!!! It was at La’Atelier by Joel Robuchon.

French food isn’t bland! Different regions have different foods. These people obviously haven’t had good french food.
