Add a french liqueur such as Grand Marnier or Chambord

Melt the butter or add some citrus zest, lemon or ornage, even bake them in madeline molds or mini cupckae/flan pans.

Here are a few liquors that would add a wonderful punch.
Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
Napoleon Mandarine Brandy Liqueur
Peter Heering Cherry Brandy Liqueur
Nugat Chocolate Nugat Liqueur
