Everyday French cooking? La cuisine de Maman?

french cuisine
Mary D asked:

I would like a cookbook or website that features recipes and menus typical of everyday French cooking, the sort known as “la cuisine de Maman” or simply home-style cooking. French comfort food that housewives make for their families, not fancy restaurant fare. Thanks!

  1. I have the perfect book for you..”French Farmhouse Cookbook” by Susan Herrmann Loomis.

My mother is french and i lived there until I moved to America at 12..My Grandfather was from the country…and the foods we ate were nothing like you see in restaurants….This is the only book that actually has the foods I ate as a child…Like Rillettes ,and chicken Gizzard confit

  2. Do you speak French? If you do, I would recommend “Les recettes faciles de Françoise Bernard.” I think it was translated once but I’m not sure it’s in print.

I also write a blog about everyday French cooking, which is kind of dormant for the moment but that I’ll be working on during the year:

I have a lot of links there to other blogs that feature French cooking.
